The Castle of Sant Joan, a heritage site in the town of Blanes, had lost visitors’ interest because of the neglected state of its surroundings. Opening and closing is an intervention that regulates visitor access during the day and at night with a sliding gate made of weathering steel: a new, robust barrier that doesn’t block the view.
